Man Melts Down and Calls Police After Seeing… a Father Parenting in the Wrong Restroom.
America has apparently entered a new era of public service. We have neighborhood watch groups, volunteer fire departments, and now, apparently, volunteer bathroom inspectors.
While a young father was helping his two daughters wash their hands in the women’s restroom at a highway gas station in Oklahoma, another man spotted the horrifying scene and immediately did what any calm, rational adult would do. He called the police.
“There is a man with his two little girls using the bathroom,” he screamed into the phone. “He is washing his hands with his daughters right now.”
The monster.
According to the young father, he chose the women’s restroom because it was completely empty. “I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and filthy stalls,” he later explained.
A perfectly ordinary parental decision, unless you’ve spent the past several years marinating in ‘religious right’ culture-war outrage.
Instead of asking a simple question like, “Oh, are those your daughters?” our newly deputized Bathroom Marshal apparently concluded that civilization itself was collapsing. The confrontation frightened the little girls enough to make them cry, all because Dad had committed the unspeakable crime of... helping his children wash their hands.
Ironically, the only person behaving suspiciously was the grown man lurking outside a restroom, policing who was allowed to pee.
Over the past several years, politicians have transformed bathrooms into ideological battlegrounds. Twenty-one states now have laws dictating restroom access, while federal protections surrounding gender identity have been weakened through court decisions and policy changes. The result is that ordinary people now feel empowered to interrogate complete strangers about where they’re allowed to urinate. It’s God’s will.
Congratulations, everyone. We’ve reached Peak America.
I do have a confession of my own, however – Bathroom Monitors, pay attention!
If I’m in a public building with two single-occupancy restrooms and the men’s room is occupied while the women’s room is empty... guess what?
I know. Lock me up.
If some self-appointed Guardian of the Porcelain Throne wishes to inspect my credentials, I’ll happily provide biological proof… that I’m a human allowed to do human things… though I suspect everyone involved would regret the experience.
The strange thing is that bathrooms used to be where you went to avoid other people. Now they’re apparently where some people go looking for them.
Meanwhile, we’ve got wars, inflation, housing shortages, AI threatening entire professions, disappearing pollinators, climate disasters, healthcare costs that require their own mortgage, and enough political dysfunction to fuel historians for centuries.
But yes, let’s keep assigning volunteers to restroom surveillance.
History will surely remember this as the America’s finest hour.
